Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem launches Dec 9, 2025

Mojang has set December 9, 2025 as the launch date for Mounts of Mayhem, coming to both Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Java Edition. The update brings rideable chaos to the Overworld, new hostile mounted mobs, and a spear weapon with fresh combat mechanics.

New mounted threats

• Camel husk: This towering mount stands about 2.375 blocks high and spawns with two riders—a husk and a new mob called the parched. Both are immune to sunlight. The husk carries a spear, while the parched attacks from range with arrows of Weakness.

• Zombie nautilus: Found underwater, this undead creature always appears with a drowned rider armed with a trident. Mojang teases a rare variant of the zombie nautilus, though details on how to find it remain undisclosed.

• Zombie horse: Formerly a Creative-only spawn, zombie horses will now roam naturally at night in forest and plains biomes with zombie riders. Like husks, mounted zombies can wield spears.

New weapon: the spear

The spear is a tiered weapon that can be crafted from wood, copper, iron, gold, diamond, and Netherite. It has two attack styles:

• Jab: a quick, close-range strike.
• Charge: a heavy hit that scales with your movement speed. Sprinting, flying with elytra, or attacking from a mount can increase its damage.

Players can meet the challenge on their own rides. Options include:

• Classic horse: Horses can now swim and be fitted with Netherite horse armor.
• Nautilus: This mount lets you travel quickly underwater and preserves your air supply.
• Undead mounts: If you unseat their riders, you could claim mounts like the camel husk, zombie nautilus, or zombie horse for yourself.
